I try to operate an 80/20 rule and these definitely fall into the 20 section! Although these aren’t the healthiest of treats, I believe in everything in moderation. I try to eat clean most of the time but every now and then if you fancy a treat I think why deny yourself? If you’re having it in small quantities then it’s not going to be damaging to your lifestyle and I think sometimes people that are too strict with themselves end up bingeing on badness months after they denied themselves a cube of chocolate. So go on, indulge every now and then, and just remember: tomorrow’s a new day so if you do indulge it doesn’t count…sort of.
These aren’t the traditional rocky roads recipe, and there are lots on the net to choose from. But when my other half made these I couldn’t resist scoffing them. They are so rich and the peanut M&Ms give them a great crunch and texture. Definitely a treat for a rainy weekend in.
200g chocolate (dark, milk or white it’s up to you)
Pack of digestive biscuits
Few spoonfuls of butter
Few tablespoons of Golden Syrup
Icing sugar to decorate
Method: Melt the chocolate down, crumble half pack of digestives and mix them into the chocolate mixture. Take off the heat and mix everything else into the mixture. Put into a dish and place in the fridge for around 4 hours to cool and set. Dust with icing sugar, cut into chunks and serve!
